Differing letters of denial from Ascend Management Innovations

Readers may remember that on July 2nd 2014 we received denial of care in a residential facility by a company called Ascend Management Innovations.

This past Saturday fully 8 days after the denial came we received our own version of the denial letter.

Did you catch what I wrote there?  Our own version of the denial letter.

You can find my original post about the denial here.

In that post there is this section:  further comments

This section, perhaps most damning toward me and my wife is omitted from our version of the denial.  This section is the basis for the facility deciding that they would not appeal the decision of the Ascend Management Innovations company.

To quote the facility directly “I don’t think there is going to be an appeal done. Mark said there doesn’t appear to be enough justification for appeal. Is there a therapist who has been doing therapy with David to show what has been tried therapeutically?”

I find it interesting that the facility has two different versions of this letter.

Is it a sign of something unethical?

I don’t know.

What I do know is that it doesn’t feel right.  It feels like the Ascend Management Innovations company is trying to hide something.

Or am I just a disenfranchised parent?  Once I figure out how to redact information in the original PDF’s, I will post both letters.  It is important that it be done in such a way that no one can say that I did more than cross out address information and what not.

Oh and I just discovered that Ascend Management Innovations is on facebook.
